On Friday, UK PM Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty had a low-key date night at a Delhi restaurant. Read this to know more.

Rishi Sunak and wife Akshata Murty are finally in Delhi for the G20 Summit. According to the reports, the couple opted for a low-key dinner date on Friday night. As per the Telegraph UK, Sunak had planned to hold talks with PM Modi at his official residence in central Delhi on Friday afternoon. However, the meeting was called off early. Instead, PM Modi held a dinner at his residence for US President Joe Biden on Friday evening.

Another plan for Sunak and Murty on Friday evening was also canceled due to extensive traffic curbs. After the couple could not proceed with any such arrangement, they opted for a private dinner in Lutyens’ Delhi. The couple is staying at the five-star Shangri-La Hotel and they walked to a nearby restaurant for dinner on Friday night.

According to The Indian Express, the couple went to the Imperial hotel for dinner. An image showed them walking arm in arm. While Sunak can be seen dressed in a white shirt sans blazer, Murty is wearing a white T-shirt paired with white and pink striped trousers.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off the G20 Summit on Saturday with a word of condolence and solidarity for the lives lost in the earthquake in Morocco. With this, he made a pledge to “transform global trust deficit into more trustworthy relations”.

PM Modi welcomed a host of world leaders, including US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, at the Bharat Mandapam, the venue of the G20 Summit on Saturday morning.

The world leaders walked the red carpet lined with national flags with the wall depicting different yoga postures. Modi welcomed the world leaders with a warm handshake.
