Do you remember the Telugu film Gudumba Shankar? Directed by Veera Shankar, the film starred Pawan Kalyan, Meera Jasmine and Ashish Vidyarthi. It was released on September 10, 2004. Recently, Gudumba Shankar was re-released after 19 years. The initial date was fixed as August 31, 2023. Then it got postponed and was re-released on September 2, on Pawan Kalyan’s birthday. It received a positive response from the audience in pre-bookings, but couldn’t perform well after it was released. Due to the lack of availability of theatres and show timings, the film failed to create an impact at the box office. Lack of proper planning and management were also cited as reasons behind Gudumba Shankar’s failure. As per reports, Gudumba Shankar earned Rs 1 crore from the Nizam regions. Reportedly, it made a gross collection of three crores till now.

Vijay Deverakonda’s film Kushi was released on September 1. Movie theatres provided more show slots and screens for the film. As the priority was given to this and many other newly-launched films, Gudumba Shankar’s re-release couldn’t perform as expected.

Pawan Kalyan and Meera Jamine’s followers celebrated the re-release. Earlier, Meera Jasmine also shared a special post about Gudumba Shankar’s re-release on social media. She took a walk down the memory lane and shared pictures from the sets of the film. In addition to this, she also shared a heartfelt message for Pawan Kalyan. Meera Jasmine also thanked her fans, who supported her throughout the journey. She mentioned that the film Gudumba Shankar helped shape her career as an artist.

Meera Jasmine announced her comeback recently. Her followers and other celebrities welcomed her with open arms. She is making a comeback after almost 10 years. Her upcoming film will be directed by S Shashikanth, with which she is also marking her directorial debut. S Shashikanth will also mark a reunion for the on-screen pair Meera Jasmine and R Madhavan after 19 years. Their last film together was Ayitha Ezhuthu, directed by Mani Ratnam, in 2004. The film will also have Nayanthara and Siddharth in prominent roles. The plot and other related information are yet to be revealed. The film is expected to be released in 2024 and will be screened in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada languages.
