Unable to deal with the loss of her husband, an Odisha woman attempted suicide along with her two children. The incident was reported in Masterpada under Sohela police limits in Bargarh district.
Kumodini Sahu along with her son Bansidhar Sahu and her married daughter Swaran Mahajan attempted suicide by consuming pesticides after the death of her husband Arjun Sahu.
The family was then taken to Burla Medical Center where the son Bansidhar Sahu and daughter Subaran Mahajan were declared dead upon arrival as they succumbed in an ambulance. Their mother Kumodini Sahu is being treated at Burla Medical in critical condition.
After the death of the father, the suicide of a son and a daughter who lost their mental stability has cast a shadow of mourning in the Sohela area. On the other hand, the Sohela police have conducted an investigation into the incident.
Arjun Sahu, a textile merchant in Sohela died on September 6.
After Sahu’s death, the family was in a state of shock and less than two days, the mother, daughter and attempted suicide collectively.
Earlier, the police seized some pesticide bottles from their residence and advised them to remain calm.
