You might have seen numerous videos of lions exhibiting unusual behaviours or having intimidating encounters with other creatures. However, have you ever witnessed the world from a lion’s perspective? Well, in a video that recently went viral on the internet, a lioness in Kenya decided to steal a GoPro camera, offering a captivating and never-seen-before point of view (POV).
This remarkable footage was recorded using a GoPro camera belonging to Ahmed Galal, a 38-year-old wildlife photographer from Egypt residing in the UAE. Ahmed generously allowed the lioness to make off with his device while they were in the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, Africa.
According to a report by LaDbible, Ahmed, during his time in Kenya, spotted a lone lioness and recognised it as a golden opportunity to capture some unique footage. He shared his rationale, stating, “I wanted to see if she would check the camera out. We placed a stick with a camera on top near her. The lioness sniffed the stick, took it, and ran off."

The video captures the moment when a vehicle is positioned at one end of the jungle, and a lion is observed at the other. The lioness spots the camera-equipped stick and cautiously approaches it. She briefly appears unsure as she nudges her nose against the camera lens but quickly gains confidence and grips it between her teeth.
The footage then treats viewers to an up-close view of the lioness’s formidable teeth and a distinctive angle of her nose as she races through the bush-filled landscape. The GoPro continues to record as the lioness embarks on her adventure, sprinting gracefully across the grass before pausing briefly to recline and release the stick, allowing the camera to tumble to the ground.
However, the lioness’s curiosity isn’t satisfied just yet. She seizes the stick once more for a final playful run before dropping it as Ahmed’s vehicle draws near.

Ahmed candidly admitted, “I’ll admit that I was worried about getting the camera back," Ahmed revealed to Caters News. “We managed to chase after the lioness, and she dropped the camera…Although it had a few scratches, the GoPro still functioned," he added.
