Ganesh Chaturthi 2023: Mumbai Gears Up for the Mega Festival

Ganesh Chaturthi is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha.

This year, it will be celebrated from September 19 to September 28.

Extending over 10 days, the festival provides a precious opportunity for people to come together in prayer, seeking blessings for wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune.

The festival is thought to have been popularized by the Maratha king Shivaji Maharaj, who used it to unite his people and promote Hindu culture.

It was initially celebrated only in Maharashtra, but it has since spread to other parts of India and the world.

While the festival is days away, revelry has started on the streets of Mumbai already.

Life-sized Ganpati idols were seen on Mumbai streets, being taken to the various pandals around the city.

Throngs of people could be seen welcoming Ganpati with sounds of drums and cymbals.

The Chaturthi Tithi will begin at 12:39 p.m. on September 18 and conclude at 1:43 p.m. on September 19.

Ganesh Visarjan or Anant Chaturdashi will be observed on September 28 this year.
