Nagorno-Karabakh Road Reopening Deal In Limbo | Azerbaijan Claims Armenian Units Fired At Its Troops

Azerbaijan has denied that Baku had reached a deal with Nagorno-Karabakh to simultaneously reopen roads to Azerbaijan and Armenia. A foreign policy advisor to Azerbaijani President said Baku had offered to simultaneously reopen the roads but the "illegal regime" in Karabakh had refused. Azerbaijan claims Armenian units opened small arms fire on Azerbaijani soldiers in Sadarak in the north of Nakhchivan. Meanwhile, Iran has been accused of actively escalating a new round of conflict in the southern Caucasus region. Iran had reportedly concentrated units of its Land Forces and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps near the border of Azerbaijan on September 8.
