Earlier too, Atlee told CNN News18 that he is grateful towards audiences for showering immense love on his film Jawan.

Jawan director Atlee surprised fans on Thursday night as he visited the iconic Gaiety Galaxy Cinema in Mumbai. When the filmmaker was leaving the theatre, he was surrounded by the paparazzi who also asked him about his film’s phenomenal opening. Atlee credited the success of Jawan to Shah Rukh Khan and thanked the audiences for showering love on his film.

“Love everyone. Everyone is loving back. Everyone loves Shah Rukh Khan," he said. When asked about the film’s success, Atlee added, “It is all because of Shah Rukh sir". Watch it here:

Jawan hit theatres on September 7 and turned into a festival across the country. Several videos of fans dancing inside and outside theatres, bursting crackers, playing with colours from all over the country are going viral on social media. Soon after the film’s release, in an exclusive conversation with CNN News18, Atlee thanked audiences for showering immense love on his film and said, “The movie is amazing. Let the movie speak. Don’t want to talk much. Thank you all. Love you."

Later in the day, Shah Rukh Khan also reacted to the film’s bumper opening and shared that he is ‘overwhelmed’ with response. “Wow have to take time out and thank each and every Fan Club and all of you who have gone so happily in the theatres and even outside. So overwhelmed will surely do the needful as soon as I get my breath back in a day or so. Uff!! Love u for loving #Jawan," he wrote.

Meanwhile, Jawan has become the highest Bollywood opener of all time. The Atlee directorial broke all records by earning over Rs 75 crore nett in India on day 1 for all languages. According to a report in Sacnilk.com, Jawan earned Rs 65 crore nett in Hindi after record-breaking advance booking. This means that Jawan has surpassed Pathaan too which had minted Rs 57 crore nett on its first day.

Besides Shah Rukh Khan, Jawan also stars Nayanthara, Vjay Sethupathi and Ridhi Dogra in key roles. Deepika Padukone also plays an extended cameo in the movie.
