With Apple set to launch its latest iPhone 15 series smartphones on September 12, a new leak has claimed that the rumoured titanium frame in the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to make the devices approximately 10 per cent lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro models.
According to Apple, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max weigh 206 grams and 240 grams, respectively. A report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revealed that a roughly 10 per cent reduction in weight would mean the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max might weigh around 185 grams and 216 grams, respectively.
This would mean the iPhone 15 Pro could be the lightest Pro model since the iPhone XS, which was 177 grams. Similarly, the iPhone 15 Pro Max might become the lightest Max model since the iPhone XS Max, which weighed 208 grams.
Given that Gurman said the weight reduction will be “about" 10 percent, the exact figures remain to be seen. If the iPhone 15 Pro weighs 188 grams or more, it would still be the lightest Pro model since the iPhone 11 Pro. Nevertheless, it seems the upcoming Pro models will be the lightest in many generations of devices, MacRumors said.
Recently, another report hinted that the new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will come with storage options of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, just like the previous iPhone 14 Pro models. According to Taiwanese research firm TrendForce, both iPhone 15 Pro models will be equipped with 8GB of RAM, compared to 6GB for the iPhone 14 Pro models. The report suggested that increased RAM can contribute to improved performance, particularly for multitasking.
Alongside the iPhone 15 series, the brand is also expected to unveil new smartwatches — Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 and new AirPods featuring a USB-C port.
